KS2 Curriculum

UM Academy is committed to providing its students with a broad, balanced and enriched curriculum while adhering to the National Curriculum.

Our Key Stage 2 curriculum at the Academy is aligned with the Welsh Government's guidelines. Our tailored and differentiated curriculum aims to equip our students with a broad and balanced education in a caring and secure environment. We aim to develop their academic skills while nurturing an Islamic personality and character, emphasising good morals and character. Recognizing the uniqueness of each child, our curriculum promotes respect for diverse perspectives and cultures. In addition to the formal program of lessons, our curriculum includes various activities within and outside the school, providing a holistic and enriching learning experience for our students.

Our education philosophy places student well-being at its core, considering it the highest priority. We recognise that a supportive and nurturing environment is essential for the overall development of each student. The curriculum is designed with the understanding that student well-being is intricately linked to their academic success and personal development. The small student-to-teacher ratio further emphasises our dedication to providing individual attention and care, ensuring that each student feels supported and valued.

By placing student well-being at the heart of our education philosophy, we strive to create an environment where students not only thrive academically but also feel emotionally secure, fostering a positive and conducive atmosphere for learning and personal growth.

In our primary school, while specific subjects are still taught separately, we have some lessons that are taught thematically, bringing subjects together so learners understand the connections between them. For example, a topic like climate change would be looked at holistically through geography, art, history and literacy. While there are specific subject lessons to cover Literacy skills and numeracy skills, literacy and numeracy competence are incorporated and applied across the curriculum throughout their education.
